Global food company Cargill has opened its new headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, with an investment of $70m.
The 188,000ft² building will focus on the company’s North American protein operations and aims to provide food solutions to global customers through technology and a focus on sustainability.
Designed for collaboration and growth, the headquarters will connect Cargill’s 800 employees in Wichita with 28,000 additional colleagues across North America, and more than three dozen protein production facilities in the US and Canada.
Additionally, the facility will also concentrate on the recruitment of top talent to provide innovative culinary and food sensory experiences.
Cargill Protein president Brian Sikes said: “We want to help make Wichita the Silicon Valley of protein, bringing together the best minds, innovation and technology in the industry.
“Our customers rely on us to bring insights to the table and anticipate what consumers need and want. This building, along with our existing Cargill Innovation Center, creates a destination for customers to tap into our expertise and experience the future of protein.”
The facility features a presentation kitchen that connects customers and visitors to food solutions, as well as a sensory centre that allows Cargill and its customers to conduct product research and testing.
Due to an immersive technology conference room, the employees at this base can collaborate easily with their colleagues in global locations such as Buenos Aires, Geneva and Shanghai.
It also features a dedicated space to focus on sustainability across the protein supply chain.
Cargill’s Wichita headquarters also includes outdoor lounges with Wi-Fi facility, game tables and grills, a fire pit and flexible workspaces with easy access to shopping and culinary experiences in Old Town District of Wichita.
This month, Cargill announced its plans to invest $235m in the Philippines and $70m in Thailand.
