US-based Hearthside Food Solutions has purchased a baking facility in Seelyville, Indiana, which was formerly operated by the Kellogg company for producing cookies, crackers and other baked goods.
Located near Terre Haute, the 187,000ft² baking facility was involved in continuous expansion and modernisation. A significant expansion was carried out in 2001 but was recently left idle.
Hearthside Food Solutions chairman and CEO Rich Scalise said: “The Seelyville acquisition is about future growth. The facility will enable our nutrition bar and bakery business to continue to serve our customers’ expanding needs.
With the acquisition of the facility, Hearthside increased its network to 26 facilities. It will be the company’s second facility in Indiana.
Hearthside supply chain senior vice-president Dwayne Hughes said: “The Seelyville facility is in excellent condition and has been well cared for.
“We look forward to the Seelyville facility becoming part of our expanding world-class production network.”
An additional deal to acquire Greencore USA is expected to close this month and will bring Hearthside’s total facility count to 39 production locations, 35 of which are in the US.
Hearthside Food Solutions is a contract manufacturer and producer of baked snacks and nutrition bars. It also provides food packaging services.
