US-based Lakeview Farms has acquired Massachusetts-based hummus producer Tribe Mediterranean Foods for an undisclosed sum.
Lakeview Farms is an Ohio-based company that manufactures and distributes refrigerated desserts, dips, seafood salads and spreads. Its products are sold at retail outlets in the dairy, deli and seafood departments across the US.
With the acquisition of Tribe, Lakeview intends to enter the $800m hummus category with an established national brand.
Lakeview Farms CEO Tom Davis said: “We are excited to welcome Tribe and its employees to our Lakeview Farms organisation.
“Tribe brings an impressive product portfolio, deep talent and industry expertise, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and a strong plan for growth. We look forward to continuing to build our business through innovation, world-class manufacturing and distribution.”
based in Taunton, Massachusetts, Tribe Mediterranean manufactures preservative-free prepared hummus products, which are claimed to be plant-based, kosher-certified, vegan-friendly and contain no GMO ingredients.
The company further added that its products do not contain artificial preservatives, cholesterol, hydrogenated oils or high-fructose corn syrup.
