Corbion finishes construction of facility for non-GMO powdered vinegar

Bio-based food and biochemical ingredients supplier Corbion has completed the construction of a non-GMO powdered vinegar facility in Gorinchem, the Netherlands.

 

With the strategic investment, the company intends to ensure the continuation and security of supply to its customers using vinegar-based solutions as an alternative to synthetic ingredients.

 

Corbion Food senior vice-president Ruud Peerbooms said: “Corbion’s powdered vinegar solutions are consistently proving highly effective in preserving safety and shelf life in a wide range of foods.

 

“They help manufacturers respond to consumers who prefer products with ingredients they understand. We want to continue leveraging our expertise in natural fermentation processes and developing even better ways to use vinegar’s potential as a natural preservative.

 

“Bringing much of our vinegar production in-house will allow us greater efficiency and control in doing that.”

 

By combining in-house capabilities with sourcing through strategic co-manufacturing partnerships enables the company to secure its supply chain for powdered vinegar products while meeting growing customer demand and driving the development of new clean-label innovations.

 

Peerbooms further added: “The consumer-driven clean-label movement is not a trend anymore. It’s here to stay.

 

“Powdered vinegar is a key to the future of clean-label, sustainable food preservation solutions, and this investment will support Corbion’s growth as a leading provider of those solutions.”

 

Corbion’s Verdad range is based on vinegar, ferment blends and other functional natural ingredients.

 

This range is claimed to enable more consumer-friendly ingredient labelling, while extending shelf life, improving yield and enhancing safety without impacting quality.
