US-based Crab House Trading has issued a recall of nearly 36,040lb of frozen Siluriformes products, specifically yellow walking fish, which have been produced without the benefit of federal inspection.
The products that are subject to the recall include ‘triple pearl headless-cleaned yellow walking fish’.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the items were shipped to retail and wholesale locations in California.
FSIS identified the issue during its regular follow-up surveillance activities.
So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions as a result of the consumption of the products. FSIS said that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
Customers have been urged not to consume the products and to either throw them away or return them to the sellers.
This has been classified as a Class I recall, indicating a health hazard situation wher there is a reasonable chance that consumption of the product would lead to serious, adverse health consequences or death.
In February, Texas-based McAllen Cold Storage recalled nearly 51,942lbs of frozen Siluriformes fish products as they were not presented for import re-inspection into the US.
