The FDA has posted two recall announcements for ALDI Bakers Corner Flour because it may be contaminated with E. coli O26 and is linked to an outbreak that has sickened at least 17 people in 8 states. The Rhode Island Department of Health found the pathogen during testing of a bag of flour. The flour was made at the ADM Milling flour mill in Buffalo, New York.
The first recall is for 5 pound bags of Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour and is similar to the Rhode Island recall notice. The flour was sold in selec ALDI stores in these states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia. There are two lot numbers: L18A02 and L18A03. The products have best if used by dates of December 2 and December 3, 2019. The flour was made at ADM’s flour mill in Buffalo, New York.
ADM Milling is working with ALDI. That grocery store chain has recalled all potentially affected products from store shelves in that region. In addition, ALDI has recalled all other ADM retail flour products packaged for ALDI as a precaution.
Which leads to the second recall notice that has more information. In this recall, the product is again Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour sold at retail locations in the Northeastern United States. The product was sourced from an ADM Milling Company production facility in New York and distributed to ALDI stores in the same 11 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia.
Here’s the new information: this bag has the UPC number 041498130404. And out of an abundance of caution, ALDI has recalled all best if used by dates and all lots of Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour products produced by ADM Milling from its store shelves.
If you purchased any of these products, do not use them. Throw them away in a sealed container, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product.
