DowDuPont Specialty Products Division (DuPont) is further strengthening its efforts in the nutrition and biosciences field by combining the business divisions Nutrition & Health and Industrial Biosciences into a $6.2 billion business division called Nutrition & Biosciences.
The new business will, the company claims, be a global market leader across the specialty food ingredients, dietary supplements, pharma excipients, household and personal care, animal nutrition and biotechnology fields with a unique product portfolio and science-based approach creating leading innovations to customers across the globe.
“Both DuPont Nutrition & Health and Industrial Biosciences are known for their innovations and strong scientific approach,” said Nutrition & Biosciences President Matthias Heinzel. “Combining the two businesses is a step to further accelerate growth and innovation while better providing customers across our industries with innovative, healthy, safe and sustainable solutions.”
The new business will, for example, the company says, benefit from complementary expertise and skills in the areas of food enzyme production, human and animal microbiome science, bioprocess engineering and R&D. Moreover, a new business structure will ensure a more targeted go-to-market strategy.
DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences will serve customers through three market-driven platforms: Food & Beverage, Health & Bioscience and Pharma Solutions. These focused platforms are designed to better serve customers in specialty food, healthcare, pharma, household and personal care, animal nutrition and biotechnology sectors with a clear end-market customer approach. The business platforms will have a distinct positioning in the market that DuPont believes will enhance market visibility, insights, customer intimacy and drive overall business growth.
The new Nutrition & Biosciences business will be headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and led by DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences President Matthias Heinzel. After combining, the new Nutrition & Biosciences business reported 2018 revenue of $6.2 billion, with over 10,000 employees, 70 manufacturing sites and 25 innovation centres worldwide.
