An allergy alert has been issued by DaVinci Laboratories on an undeclared fish allergen.
DaVinci Laboratories of Vermont, a division of FoodScience Corporation of Williston, Vermont has contacted the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is voluntarily recalling 256 bottles of Omega-3 1000 that may be labeled as Dim Plex (a dietary supplement), as a caution.
This is because a small number of bottles may contain undeclared fish (namely anchovy and sardines) allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The Omega-3 1000 product was distributed nationwide through mail order and direct delivery, and is a soft gel that is yellow in colour.
The issue was initially identified through a customer complaint. No illnesses have been reported to date.
