The revenue of the baby food market in the European unio amounted to $1.3 billion in 2018, increasing by 23% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers margins, which will be included in the final consumer price), according to a new report titled the EU - Food Preparations For Infants - Market Analysis, Forecast, Size, Trends And Insights, which was published recently by IndexBox AI Platform.
According to the reports key findings, baby food consumption continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018, with an increase of 23% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the baby food market attained its peak figure level at $2.5 billion in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($2.6 billion) remains the largest baby food supplier in the European unio, comprising 37% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Ireland ($1.2 billion), with a 18% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a 15% share.

The baby food export price in the European unio stood at $8 per kg in 2018, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2018, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.2%.
There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2018, the country with the highest export price was the Netherlands ($11 per kg), while Spain ($4.4 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
