US-based meat processing company Porter Road Butcher Meat has unveiled its expansion plans within Caldwell County, Kentucky.

As part of the expansion, the company announced that it will be moving to a new and invest more than $1.5m in the facility, which is expected to create 83 new full-time jobs in the region.

The announcement was made by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

Beshear said: “I want to congratulate and thank Porter Road for this commitment to Kentucky and our strong workforce.

“As we look to re-establish and strengthen our economy, existing businesses like Porter Road will play a critical role in our success. I anticipate plenty more to come for the commonwealth in the months and years ahead.”

The move to a larger facility is said to be in response to the increasing demand for the meat products in the region.

Encompassing 35,000ft² of space, the new facility will feature a larger cutting room and expanded packaging and shipping capabilities.
