Canadian craft chocolate manufacturer and chocolatier Choklat has obtained a processing license from Health Canada for producing a line of cannabis-infused chocolate bars, drink mixes and infused sugar.

Namaste Technologies holds a 49% ownership stake. It will launch the new products on its online platform for cannabis goods.

Choklat CEO Brad Churchill said: “Receiving the processing license from Health Canada is a significant achievement and milestone.

“We look forward to introducing our cannabis-infused product line, products with a pure chocolatey taste with no aftertaste, across Canada leveraging the extensive B2B sales channels that CannMart Inc. has built.

The new products that Choklat will manufacture include dark, white and milk chocolate bars as well as infused sugar. It will formulate and develop its products in accordance with the regulatory requirements set out by Health Canada.

Choklat’s drink mixes will have a chocolate base.

It will sell its products through Namaste’s e-commerce website. They will be also available at cannabis stores in authorised markets.

“We believe there is pent up demand for cannabis-infused edible products on a national scale. Choklat is one of the first food processors in Canada to receive its processing license from Health Canada and we expect their products to be on shelves in March, allowing for the Health Canada notice period.
