Food technology and ingredients company Kerry Group has unveiled plans to build a $125m food manufacturing plant in Georgia, US.
According to the company, the investment will lead to the creation of a 360,000ft² facility in Rome, Georgia.
The new facility will produce integrated taste and nutrition solutions to meet growing demand in the poultry, seafood and alternative protein markets.
Kerry Taste & Nutrition North America CEO Gerry Behan said: “North America is our largest market and as such it is fitting that it is here that we announce our largest ever capital expenditure investment.
“This new facility will be one of the most advanced and modern food manufacturing facilities in the world, which will support our customers as they produce tasty and nutritious food product, which will be consumed all across the US and Canada.”
Construction work at the site will begin immediately and Kerry Group expects it to be completed in early 2021.
The facility will be powered by 100% renewable electricity and feature other sustainable initiatives, including zero waste to landfill, bulk receiving and energy-efficient equipment.
once completed, the new facility will double the company’s production capacity.
More than 400 people will work on the facility during the construction phase. once it becomes operational, Kerry Group expects it to create more than 100 full-time jobs.
Georgia Governor Brian P Kemp said: “Kerry Group has been an excellent employer in Floyd County for some time, providing high-quality jobs to hardworking Georgians in the region.
