To honor National Mustard Day in the U.S., yellow mustard brand French’s paired up with Oskar Blues Brewery to produce French’s Mustard Beer. The wheat beer is available for a limited time in Oskar Blues Brewery taprooms as well as online at CraftShack wher it retails in 6-packs for $19.99. This light beer contains 5.2% ABV.
This tropical wheat beer pairs a citrus infusion of key lime, lemon, tangerine, and passion fruit with the tangy taste of Classic Yellow French’s for a beer that is “perfect for summertime backyard barbecues.”
"Frenchs enjoys creating new curiosity around a flavor that has been a staple in homes for over 115 years," said Jill Pratt, Chief Marketing Excellence Officer for Frenchs in a release. Clearly, the company is finding new ways to bring this condiment into homes as this is not the first mashup that the mustard company has participated in since it was purchased by McCormick & Co. in 2017. Last year, the yellow mustard paired up with Coolhaus to bring a limited-edition Mustard Ice Cream to the market.
In addition to releasing a canned version of this what beer, the company is offering a homebrew recipe for aficionados of this classic condiment to brew at home. More likely than not, this recipe will tempt a few adventurous folks to try their hand at brewing with mustard – almost 85% of Americans said they use mustard at home, according to Statista data. Plus, if the combo is a hit, the recipe may prove to be a saving grace for fans after the cans disappear from shelves.
Although an unconventional pairing, Oskar Blues Head Brewer, Juice Drapeau, said he welcomed the task of creatively fusing these two flavors. "Were stoked on bold flavors at Oskar Blues Brewery and we never shy away from a challenge," he said in the press release.
