At this years Cosme Tokyo cosmetics trade fair, Japanese company Hiro International presented a completely THC-free CBD oil, that was not produced with the help of hemp plants, says Hanf magazine.
According to information from Hiro International, the product is made from orange peels. The company claims that it contains exactly the same active ingredient as that extracted from hemp plants. The only difference is that the oil certainly contains no THC. While CBD oil is freely available in Japan, THC is considered highly illegal. Ryousuke Koseki, spokesperson for Hiro International, explains that this is the reason for the slow spread of the CBD trend in Japan.
"Some companies have run into huge problems because THC has been detected in their products," Koseki says. Many companies are now concerned and consumers are confused.
Because Hiro Internationals product does not contain THC, there are no problems with the law or other regulations in the country. It is structurally the same CBD that is found in hemp plants. Orange CBD offers customers the same active ingredient, the same effect and there are no legal concerns, says Koseki.
The company has already developed several prototypes. These include a few cosmetic products such as a body lotion, lip balm, a hair care product and a make-up remover. Hiro International was founded in 1984 and specializes in the import of fruit and fruit juice for the Japanese market. The best known is the own brand Natural Hero.
The company also sells banana extract, horse placenta extract and bean extract for nutritional, pharmaceutical and cosmetic purposes. During the examination of oranges imported from the USA, the CBD content in orange peels, which are normally considered waste, was discovered.
