Over the years, Himachal Pradesh farmers have come to understand that growing apples faced more and more problems. Specialists attribute the trouble in apple growing to changes in climate conditions, exhorting growers to develop other plant crops like plums, peaches, and pomegranates.

Environmental changes, specialists state, are affecting the creation of significant agrarian and agricultural yields in the Indian Himalayan Region.

Growers generally developed the Royal Delicious assortment of apples, which requires 800 to 1,200 chilling hours. Huge temperature increments in Spring and moderate increments during the Summer and Winter seasons have brought down the local chilling hours.

An investigation directed by the College of Basic Sciences, Palampur, found that about 63% of the Banjar growers have changed to interchange harvests, for example, pear, kiwi, pomegranate, persimmon, cabbage, and different vegetables alongside the apple crop.

Fungal scab disease returns to Himachal after four decades
Furthermore, apple farmers in Himachal Pradesh are facing the onslaught of the scab disease, which has hit the state after nearly four decades. It is damaging this year’s produce, and causing a rise in its prices.
