US-based flours producer Panhandle Milling has announced the acquisition of the Arrowhead Mills facility in Hereford, Texas.

With the acquisition of Arrowhead Mills assets, Panhandle Milling aims to further enhance its capabilities, products, and custom packaging solutions.

The acquisition will also allow Panhandle Milling to become the preferred supplier of consumer-packaged, grain-based foods.

Panhandle Milling president Peter Bisaccia said: “In the past six months, we’ve seen an enormous demand spike in the retail flour and mix spaces.

“We are excited that with the Arrowhead Assets, Panhandle Milling will allow us to accommodate the rapidly-growing needs of both new and existing retail customers and serve to strengthen our partnerships in the flour space.”

Panhandle Milling’s capabilities currently include extrusion, flaking, drying, enrobing, grinding and roasting.

The deal will allow the company to expand product portfolio with innovations in cereals, beans, whole grains, legumes, cereals, flakes, organic flours, mixes and blends, as well as gluten-free speciality flours and grains.

Bisaccia added: “Supporting West Texas and the people of West Texas through both jobs and wholesome, nourishing food has always been central to the values and the mission of our Panhandle Milling business.

“During these uncertain times, we’re in a unique position of growth and it’s important that we actively work to pay it forward.”

The acquisition of the Hereford facility is said to be the first in the series of expansions that Panhandle Milling is planning to implement in the near future and focus on serving retailers and customers in key areas of the country.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either company.

Panhandle Milling added that it is planning to include PHM Safe’s ready-to-eat technology that will be an optional addition for all the company’s products offerings across all facilities.

PHM Safe is part of PHM Brands, a vertically integrated food, ingredient, and technology manufacturer in Denver, Colorado.
