NT Group is unveiling its latest beetroot-based Fiesta Pink micronized powder that utilizes the natural coloring capabilities of betanin and is pegged to transform superfoods and boost beverages. The launch is the latest in the Exberry range and provides visual intensity for truly “Instagrammable” colors.

Fiesta Pink is already proving to be exceptionally popular in the world of colors, especially for products targeted at younger and more adventurous consumers. That is according to Maartje Hendrickx, market development manager at GNT.

“Coloring Foods are perfect for this market because they can help manufacturers tap into the demand for products that are healthy but also visually exciting,” she tells FoodIngredientsFirst.

“For example, Fiesta Pink could be used to transform the appearance of products featuring popular superfoods. Because the color is made from beetroot and carrot, it fits perfectly with expectations for clean and clear labels,” she explains.

GNT has launched its Exberry Shade Fiesta Pink – a micronized powder, providing a new pink shade with a hint of blue.
Naturally bright and bold
Beetroot contains a natural pigment known as betanin that can deliver exceptional color to food and beverages.

“To get the best results with beetroot-based Coloring Foods, it’s important to protect the betanin during the manufacturing process,” continues Hendrickx.

To ensure maximum color retention, heat exposure should be minimized wher possible. Otherwise, the color dosage can be increased to balance out the pigments’ sensitivity to temperature.

Ascorbic acid can also help stabilize the red shade in betanin-based Exberry products, even during long and intense baking processes.

“With the right approach, our Coloring Foods can be used to deliver the desired shade in practically any application,” adds Hendrickx.

The new product is pH-independent, offers good light stability and has a 24-month shelf life below 25⁰C.

“Exberry Micronized Powders were developed to deliver optimal performance in applications such as solid mixes, wher they can achieve more vibrant colors at lower dosage levels compared to standard powders,” adds Sonja Scheffler, product manager at GNT.

“With the launch of our stunning Fiesta Pink micronized powder, manufacturers can now choose from an even wider range of shades,” she adds.

“The Exberry Fiesta Pink Micronized Powder is just one of many Fiesta Pink products we offer,” continues Hendrickx.

“We have a liquid and a standard powder format, which are also made from beetroot and carrot,” she says.

Appealing colors for social media
On social media, vibrant pink hues are creating a buzz, says GNT.

On social media, vibrant pinks are creating a buzz, Hendrickx notes. “They stand out from the crowd.”

“The big advantage of our micronized powders is that they provide real visual intensity even in challenging applications like pressed tablets and compound coatings, so the colors are still truly Instagrammable.”

This week, Innova Market Insights revealed its Top Ten Trends for 2021.

“Age of the Influencer” has been pegged as a Top Trend for the coming year, by the market researcher, which is a nod to social media platforms and how consumer behaviors change as a reflection of online presence.

Coloring foods shine bright
To support the increasing demand for organic ingredients, GNT also has a Fiesta Pink product that meets EU organic regulations as part of its Exberry Organics range.

Alongside its liquid, powder, and oil-dispersible Coloring Foods, GNT offers various micronized powders that maximize color shades’ visual intensity in specific applications.

Due to their reduced particle size, these specialized Coloring Foods can create a homogeneous color effect in solid mixes such as instant beverages and desserts, pressed tablets, seasonings for chips and snacks, and chocolate for decoration compound coatings.

The Exberry Micronized Powder range already includes yellow, red, purple, blue, green and pink shades.

Exberry Coloring Foods are made from fruit, vegetables and edible plants using gentle, physical processing methods and no chemical solvents, ensuring widespread consumer acceptance.

In August, GNT expanded its range of yellow Exberry Coloring Foods with a new powder made from company-cultivated carrots. It enables manufacturers to deliver a brilliant yellow color shade in a broader range of applications.

Meanwhile, in May, GNT launched two Exberry Coloring Foods that deliver bright orange shades in powder and oil-dispersible formats.
