Mondelēz International is starting to see increased business outside the United States, as other countries adjust to the pandemic and start opening up again.
Sales to developing countries over the third quarter were up 5.3% over last year, according to the company’s quarterly report. Sales to some developing countries like China, India and Brazil are up, while Mondelēz is struggling in Mexico and other areas.
“Some markets are still challenged, particularly wher our portfolio skews towards gum and candy,” CEO Dirk Van de Put told the Wall Street Journal. Such items are most often impulse or convenience-store purchases, which have been slowed by the pandemic.
Overall global revenue rose 4.9% in the third quarter over last year, with a 6.3% increase in North America.
