US-based specialised food distributor GS Foods Group has announced the acquisition of Fresno Produce.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Fresno Produce was founded by David Miller and his wife Laura in 1990.
Its product offering includes fruits, vegetables including washed greens and salad mixes, which can be sliced, diced, julienned, chopped, cubed, mixed or blended for schools or restaurants.
It also offers spice and salsa blends, as well as guacamole, fruit, and vegetable trays.
Fresno Produce owner and president David Miller said: “GS Foods’ exceptional leadership team, advanced facilities, proprietary technology and unique service offerings are simply unmatched in school nutrition.
“We are proud to partner with a dedicated company who shares our commitment to meeting the specialised needs of each and every community it serves and who will bring known expertise to our region.”
Headquartered in California, GS Foods is owned by affiliates of Highview Capital and A&M Capital Partners (AMCP).
The deal will see the integration of GS Foods’ national nutrition expertise, including procurement, distribution, logistics and sophisticated service capabilities with a local operation.
GS Foods CEO Sean Leer said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has underscored the critical role school nutrition programs play in feeding our communities, yet today the specialized foodservice distribution industry remains highly fragmented.
“By partnering with like-minded companies such as Fresno Produce, GS Foods expands the reach of our expertise and takes another key step in establishing a coordinated, national school nutrition supply system.
“This allows us to better meet the diverse and increasing needs of our customers in California and beyond.”
GS Foods stated that it will continue to serve the Fresno community as it works to ensure students and families across the country have daily access to wholesome meals.
