As part of a subtle organizational change, Tyson Foods named Donnie King, group president of poultry, to the vacant post of chief operating officer. He will retain his leadership of poultry.
A 36-year Tyson veteran, King held the title of chief administrative officer till a September 2020 reorganization by then-new CEO Dean Banks, a former Google and biotech executive. King will continue to report to Banks. King left Tyson at the start 2017 shortly after Tom Hayes took over as president/CEO. He returned in January 2019.
The changes are meant to "simplify and focus our structure to facilitate faster operational decision making," said Banks. As a result, the group presidents of Fresh Meats, Prepared Foods and International and the chief customer officer will report to King.
