Spanish seafood brands owner Angulas Aguinaga has acquired salmon and cod products provider Copesco & Sefrisa.
Established in 1853, Spain-based Copesco & Sefrisa offers smoked meats, refrigerated cod and fish roe. It also owns brands such as Royal and Summumm.
In recent years, Copesco & Sefrisa is said to have doubled its sales.
Copesco & Sefrisa CEO Joan Ignasi Monfort said: “We are very proud of the evolution of our company, which we have seen grow thanks to the work carried out in all these years.
“We are excited to join forces with Angulas Aguinaga to grow even more and take this project even further. We want to add our quality, capacity for innovation and experience to a winning project.”
The acquisition is said to be in line with Angulas Aguinaga’s 2020-2025 strategic plan, which was announced by the company last year.
Under the strategic plan, the company aims to double its turnover in the next five years.
Angulas Aguinaga said that the deal would help the company to add value to the consumer in the field of fishmongers, the core of the company’s business to date.
Angulas Aguinaga CEO Ignacio Muñoz Calvo said: “In our 2020-2025 strategic plan, which we have called ‘We go out’, we have set ourselves the objective of becoming a food multinational, leaving the fish market, but also going out into the fish market.
“This purchase is a very important step because it gives us a leadership position in two key categories such as salmon and cod.”
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by both companies.
