Essentia unveils high protein savory chicken flavor for reduced sodium applications

Essentia Protein Solutions introduces its newest addition to its multi-species ProFlavor line, C3307 Chicken Flavor. Higher in protein, lower in carbs and with no added salt, Essentia says this savory chicken flavor is designed to develop lower-sodium applications that need an impactful flavor.

Speaking to FoodIngredientsFirst, Kim Peterson, senior applications manager, says the company’s latest flavor development was created in less than 12 months. 

“With the popularity of chicken-flavored bone broths, soups, marinades and prepared foods, chicken seemed like a great place to start with a line extension,” she notes. “If we see interest, we may develop a similar type of flavor in beef.”

Rounding flavors in applications
“This new chicken flavor can be a great tool for potentiating savory chicken notes in any clean label application, from soups to gravies to marinades to snacks.”

It can add rich, brothy and savory chicken notes that round out the flavor profile in applications.  

Comprised of 75 percent protein and naturally occurring collagen, C3307 can also be a good building block for nutrition and bone broth applications. 

Free from demands
This versatile chicken flavor adds to Essentia’s full line of ProFlavor products, already featuring the clean label benefits of non-GMO, allergen-free, dairy-free and gluten-free.

According to Peterson, Essentia gets asked whether its products are allergen-free frequently. “It seems developers often need to check the gluten-free or allergen-free box when creating new products.”

“This completely soluble and injectable chicken flavor can be used anywher from meat processing to savory applications to nutritional products – the uses are endless,” says Mike McGuire, senior national sales account manager at Essentia Protein Solutions. 

“C3307 can give developers more flexibility to meet stricter sodium requirements while still providing savory, full-bodied chicken notes in their finished applications,” he adds. 

Last November, Essentia launched an all-natural smoke flavor made from the Black Forest ham of Southwest Germany. The powdered smoke flavor is designed to add Black Forest ham’s distinct smoky taste to a host of savory and meat applications.

And last August, Essentia was awarded the highest global standard in food safety for the 25th year running. The company has achieved the highest AA grade by the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety at its Tipton, (UK) manufacturing site.
