After a successful first year, the Dresden subsidiary of the engineering expert Glatt Ingenieurtechnik is planning further hires for 2017.
The engineers operate in a specialist segment, which only few master: the engineering of plants for the production of pharmaceutical and biotechnological active substances – including turnkey factories – for vaccines, anti-cancer drugs, anti-diabetes medicine, and processing blood plasma into therapeutics.
The production of pharmaceuticals is complex and subject to strict regulatory requirements. What works well at laboratory scale and has shown to be effective in clinical studies must then be scaled-up into a safe and reproducible manufacturing process.
The challenge is to transfer GMP-compliant processes from both the laboratory and pilot plant to commercial-scale production. Even minor changes can have tremendous impact on the efficacy, safety and quality of the active substances.
With more than 25 years of experience in the global projects and EPC business, the Dresden based experts manage projects for well-known internationally operating pharmaceutical and biotech companies all over the world – from Germany to Russia and Asia, including India, China and Vietnam.
From a technological point of view, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik operates supplier-base independently and always utilises the most appropriate equipment and machinery.
We help our customers to incorporate their special processes into high-performing quality plants and accompany them all the way through their project
"The more sensitive components an active substance contains, the more complex and demanding the individual production steps are, especially when it comes to product protection and sterility. We help our customers to incorporate their special processes into high-performing quality plants and accompany them all the way through their project, right up to commissioning, qualification and validation support. This requires excellent engineers with a great deal of competence, expertise, experience and creativity, like our staff," says Jens-Peter Mendelsohn, Manager of the Dresden branch office.
