GC Rieber VivoMega, a supplier of omega-3 concentrates, has announced plans to continue to develop its facilities and tanks for increased capacity of its VivoMega omega-3 for the upcoming years.
On August 8, 2010, the company completed construction of its fish oil concentrate factory in Norway. In 2013 and 2016, it completed two more expansions to its factory to better satisfy market demands for more omega-3 concentrates. In 2018 and 2019, the company expanded further with larger facilities and updated technology. These upgrades enabled the launch of its Platinum range of VivoMega concentrates, which the company says is its highest ever offering at 800 mg/g minimum EPA and DHA.
The updates also facilitated lower oxidation, fish-derived omega-3 concentrates and allowed the company to develop a process which minimises the chance of a fishy aftertaste and burps, it says. Since 2015, VivoMega has reportedly accomplished lower oxidation values than global standards including 75% lower than IFOS 5-star and 80% lower than the GOED monograph.
“Everything we have accomplished so far with our facility expansions and upgrades is part of a bigger plan we have developed to help GC Rieber VivoMega to be able to become the leading supplier of high purity, high potency omega-3 concentrates across the globe,” said Ståle Søfting, Sales and Marketing Director of GC Rieber VivoMega. “2019’s expansion was step 5 of our plan and we have been working hard the last two years to prepare for step 6. We look forward to revealing what’s next in 2022.”
In addition to facility upgrades, in 2020, GC Rieber VivoMega finished constructing an 24,000 metric ton tank park. With the tank, the company says it’s better situated to withstand current supply chain challenges and provide a steadier output of omega-3 concentrates to meet increasing demand.
