online cake retailer, Sponge, has expanded its portfolio of baked goods with its first non-refined sugar product, maple and pecan cake.
The new cake combines the brand’s classic maple and pecan bake with non-refined ingredients – maple syrup and crushed and whole pecans.
Richard Fowler, head of Sponge, said: “Our first non-refined sugar cake follows feedback we’ve had from customers, asking for a range of non-refined sugar options to accommodate for those who need to keep an eye on their sugar intake. It’s taken several months of development to create the ideal balance of flavours and texture; it’s certainly not been straightforward, but we’re delighted with the outcome.”
