It’s the Year of Crunch, according to Frito-Lay. The company’s latest Snack Index shows the power of the “crunch” factor — 70% of respondents said that their perfect snack is crunchy.
Other important snack factors:
The Index revealed generational differences in how consumers fulfill their snack cravings. Gen Z is most likely to order delivery, Millennials are most likely to visit a grocery or convenience store, and Gen X and Baby Boomers are most likely to prepare food at home.
The survey also explored holiday snacking. Respondents are most likely to crave snacks when they want to treat themselves (65%), as well as when they smell (55%) or see (52%) snacks. Consumers are also interested in specialty holiday offerings and treats they can share with friends.
