In the US, SunSprout Enterprises is recalling two lots (#4211 and #5211) of its Alfalfa Sprouts in four-ounce clamshells due to a potential contamination with Salmonella.

The recalled products have best by dates between 12/10/22 and 12/27/22. The company distributed 808 pounds of the product to five foodservice and grocery customers in Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa between late November and early December 2022. No other SunSprout lot codes or products are impacted by this voluntary recall.

To date, SunSprout has claimed that it has received no complaints or reports of illness due to this recalled product.

Customers with products from this lot number in their possession have been advised to stop using it and dispose of it immediately. Consumers are also encouraged to follow all safe handling instructions and wash their hands and all preparation surfaces after handling any raw product.

Undeclared allergens

Meanwhile, in the UK, Morrisons is recalling its Tomato and Chilli Pasta Sauce because of milk that is not mentioned on the label. This recall is England, Scotland and Wales specific.

The product is sold in a pack size of 350g and has a use by date of 25 January 2023. Morrisons has said that the product also contains pepperoni that is not mentioned on the ingredients list.

Morrisons is recalling the above product from customers and have the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said that the supermarkets has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The supermarket has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers to explain to customers why the product is being recalled.

If you have bought the product and have an allergy to milk, the advice says not to eat it. Instead, it can be returned to the store wher it was bought from for a full refund.

Elsewher in the world, US company Ameripack Foods LLC is issuing a recall for 976lbs of brownies for H-E-B Meal Simple Chocolate Chunk Brownie 13oz due to an undeclared soy and egg.

The recall was reportedly initiated after discovering that trays of brownies were mislabelled on the back as “Sopapilla Cheesecake”, which does not list egg and soy allergens on the product ingredient label.

The company has claimed that there have been no injuries or illnesses reported to date.

The recalled product was available for purchase at H-E-B retail stores in Texas. It has the UPC code 4122077413 and a use by date of 01/12/2023.

Customers who have bought the product have been advised to not eat it and return the product to their nearest H-E-B store for a full refund.
