H E Stringer Flavours, a UK-based flavor house specializing in the manufacturing of flavorings and extracts for the F&B industry, exhibited its range of organic, allergen-free water-soluble flavors under its brand Foodie Flavours at this year’s International Food and Drink (IFE) Manufacturing event. The company also presented its Gorilla Vanilla, which is available for retail and manufacturing.
Speaking with FoodIngredientsFirst at the event, Stephan Rohan, sales specialist, says that comfort flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate and caramel, continue to be popular across a wide range of F&B applications, as well as traditional fruit flavors.
“We have a limitless amount of flavors and extracts and we cover everything from the standard fruit flavors to comfort flavors,” he explains. “The entire range of Food Flavours is water-soluble so that they can be used effectively in liquids and beverages. The oil-soluble flavors can also be used in general cooking, baking, making chocolate, ice cream, gelato, etc.”
The company has over 4,000 flavors and Rohan adds that “all our flavors are egg free, dairy free and nut free, as well as being suitable for vegan and vegetarians.”
“Our flavors are all-natural, so we don’t have any synthetic flavors.”
Trending flavors
Discussing in more detail the types of flavors in the range, Rohan says the best-sellers depend on the time of the year.
“If it’s winter time, we sell a lot of comfort flavors, such as the caramels, creamy, buttery flavors. Mulled wine and chocolate flavors are also very popular when it’s cold.”
When it transitions to warmer weather, we see more requests for fruit flavors. Summer flavors like passionfruit and raspberry are also very trendy,” he notes.
H E Stringer Flavours also has a wide selecion of alcohol flavors, which Rohan says can be used for gins, cocktail making and drinking in the summer.
Vanilla that supports endangered species
Vanilla is one of the most popular flavors worldwide and vanilla extracts are often used in recipes that are loved and enjoyed in numerous cultures.
The company presented its Gorilla Vanilla product under the Foodie Flavours umbrella. It is an organic vanilla extract made from vanilla beans specially grown by farmers in Uganda and can be used for baking and other F&B applications.
“We released this product the year before COVID-19 (2019) and it’s an organic two-fold, high-strength vanilla extract. It is called Gorilla Vanilla because a portion of the profits goes to the Gorilla Association in Uganda to help protect the gorilla.”
These vanilla crops used are expertly pollinated, harvested and cured to give a distinctively rich and earthy flavor. This all goes to create a high-quality vanilla ingredient.
Products safe for human consumption
Since H E Stringer has been trading, it is covered on all the accreditation sites.
Rohan explains that this is very important to the company to ensure the products are “fit for human consumption and contain no foreign bodies.”
“Our products carry the Soil Association certification, which also supports organic and at the moment, that is important to many food companies and consumers,” he comments.
“We are British Retail Consortium-accredited and hold organic certifications across the entire range, which are also vegan and Kosher certified.”
“We respect all the requirements to ensure all our products are safe for human consumption and ensure we are non-GMO and animal-free,” he concludes.
