Discount supermarket Aldi is now launching a takeaway pizza delivery service in popular student cities including Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
The supermarket says that the idea is inspired by Domino’s pizzas and claims that its pizza offerings are “up to 83 percent cheaper than Domino’s at” £3.99 each.
What’s more, Aldi has announced that there will be no delivery charge for their pizza takeaway service however customers will be able to order up to two pizzas per delivery.
The service starts on 3 October which will coincide with University Freshers Week – the first week of term in the university calendar wher cities welcome students to begin or resume their academic studies.
To order the pizzas, the supermarket has said that consumer will be able to prebook delivery timeslots via their website starting from 18 September.
The range on offer is inspired by Domino’s flavours, and includes the following: “The Meaty One”, “The Banger” and “The Texas Style BBQ Chicken & Bacon”. The range will be available in store from 9 October.
“With prices of takeaways soaring, we’re excited to be able to offer shoppers delicious pizzas at a fraction of the price of expensive high-street chains,” said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK.
“The quality ingredients and affordable price of the Ultimate Takeaway range will no doubt change people’s idea of the supermarket pizza. Better yet, we’re thrilled to be able to deliver this product hot to shoppers’ doors and truly treat our customers to the full takeaway experience,” concluded Ashfield.
