There have been numerous food and beverage recalls in the last week due to incorrect allergen advice being printed on labels.
Our first example is from the UK, wher Heathwick Ltd is recalling Saugatuck Brewing Co. Neapolitan Milk Stout and Blueberry & Maple Stout because they contain milk and oats (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label.
The Saugatuck Brewing Co. Neapolitan Milk Stout comes in a pack size of 355ml and the recall includes all best before dates. Meanwhile the Saugatuck Brewing Co. Blueberry & Maple Stout product comes in a pack size of 355ml, with the recall affecting all best before dates.
Heathwick Ltd has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which inform their members of the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers to explain why the products are being recalled.
Advice states that those who have purchased the above products and have coeliac disease, an allergy or intolerance to milk and/or oats (gluten), they should not drink them. Instead return them to your nearest Home Bargains store for a full refund.
Meanwhile in Northern Ireland, Dunnes Stores is recalling Dunnes Stores Simply Better Italian Calabrian Salami & Sausage Pizza as it contains egg which is not mentioned on the label.
The product comes in a pack size of 510g and has the batch code L.A 23236 and a best before date of May 2024.
Dunnes Stores has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers to explain what they should do if they have bought the product.
For those that have an egg allergy, advice states not to eat it. Instead it can be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.
Meanwhile, in the US, cookies-N-Milk of Texas is recalling its 6oz cups of “Chocolate Chip Edible cookie Dough” as it may contain peanuts that are not mentioned on the label.
The “Chocolate Chip Edible cookie Dough” has a lot code of # 32402342 C. It was available in retail stores in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
The company has claimed that no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
Consumers that have purchased the recalled product and have an allergy to peanuts have been urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
