In the UK, Daylesford Organic has announced that it is recalling the Daylesford Organic Rye, Spelt & Raisin Crispbreads and Daylesford Organic Savoury Biscuit selecion as certain products contain moth larvae.

The Daylesford Organic Rye, Spelt & Raisin Crispbreads come in a pack size of 120g and have best before dates 22 May 2024 and 5 June 2024.

Meanwhile the Daylesford Organic Savoury Biscuit Selection comes in a pack size of 360g. The best before dates included in this recall include 22 May 2024, 5 June 2024, and 10 September 2024. Also being recalled is a larger 960g pack of the Daylesford Organic Savoury Biscuit Selection. The best before dates attached to this product recall are 22 May 2024 and 5 June 2024.

As well as recalling the above products, the company has issued a recall notice to its customers, explaining what they should do if they have purchased the product.

Advice states that any consumers that have purchased the recalled products should not eat them. Instead they should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Pathogens

Meanwhile in the US, BrightFarms is recalling spinach grown by its supplier Element Farms in their Pompton Plains, New Jersey farm and distributed under the BrightFarms brand.

This recall has occurred has the spinach has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The company has also explained that, “due to potential cross-contamination” it is issuing a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of four salad kit products from its Selinsgrove, PA facility.

The products included in this recall were distributed to retailers in seven states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

BrightFarms claims that “no illnesses have been reported to date”. However, via the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website, the company has updated consumers that it has temporarily suspended distribution of Element Farms grown spinach.

Now, retailers have been instructed to remove all recalled products from store shelves. Meanwhile, consumers that have purchased the affected products have been warned that they should not consume the products and discard them or present a photo of the product or receipt to their place of purchase for a full refund and then discard.
