US-based ingredients provider Anchor Ingredients (Anchor) has partnered with farmer-owned cooperative Beach Cooperative Grain (Beach) to form a joint venture (JV) for processing pulse ingredients.

The new JV will operate under the name Golden Valley Ingredients and be based in Beach, North Dakota, US.

Golden Valley Ingredients will process pulse ingredients for export markets, and domestic food and pet food industries.

Both parties anticipate that this new partnership would combine global reach and product expertise of Anchors merchandising team with Beachs loyal and robust grower base.

Beach board of directors president Rick Miske said: "With pulse acres continuing to expand in our area, we knew we had to partner with the right organisation who can handle the food safety requirements, as well as provide visibility into the global market to give our growers a premium bid for their pulse commodities.

“We are confident we found the ideal partner who can provide the necessary input our grower base demands, and who has a similar mindset for the way we do business."

Anchor will be responsible for quality control and merchandising, while Beach will handle origination and day-to-day management of the facility.

Construction of the new processing facility will begin later this year at Beach, North Dakota, and will feature latest processing and packaging equipment.

The ingredients processed at this new facility include pulse commodities such as peas, lentils and chickpeas.
