US-based OK Foods has started recalling nearly one million pounds of breaded chicken due to possible metal contamination.
Located in Arkansas and Oklahoma, OK Foods is a US subsidiary of Mexican producer and processor of poultry and other food products Industrias Bachoco.
The affected products are reported to have been manufactured at its Oklahoma City plant between 19 December last year and 7 March this year.
The company explained most of the affected poultry is available in the companys inventory control and so far have not received any reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
"They will work intensively in order to retain customers confidence in the goods produced in this facility."
OK Foods has noted that there was a problem in one of its production lines at its recently acquired Oklahoma City plant, and it has taken all the necessary precautions to address the issue through quality control measures.

Industrias Bachoco added that it is confident that its OK Foods team will be able to cope with the existing situation and manage the issue as they continue working with USDA officials to resolve the matter.
Headquartered in Celaya, Guanajuato, Central Mexico, Industrias Bachoco is engaged in chicken and eggs business.
It owns and manages 64 distribution centres in Mexico, a production facility in the US, as well as a workforce of more than 25,000 people.
