US-based food company Demakes Enterprises is recalling around 32,228lbs of fully cooked chicken sausage product after being reported for misbranding and undeclared allergens.
The issue came to light when personnel belonging to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) were conducting routine label verification activities.
based on preliminary findings, it was identified that the composition of the buffalo-style chicken sausage item includes milk, a known allergen, which was not declared by the company on the product label.
The 10oz packages containing five pieces of Thin ‘n Trim Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage Buffalo Style were produced and packaged between 20 January and 10 August.
"Until now, no adverse reactions due to consumption of the product were reported, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA)."
The Use By dates of the product were found to be from 17 May through 6 December.
Bearing establishment number “P-8891” inside the USDA mark of inspection, the product was shipped to retail locations in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Until now, no adverse reactions due to consumption of the product were reported, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Further, officials cautioned buyers of the product not to consume it, besides advising them to dispose of or return it to the place of purchase.
