Swiss food processing equipment maker Buhler has launched its new digital rice analyser, called TotalSense, to improve yield quality of rice and reduce the cost for rice processors.
Buhler noted that rice farmers generally measure and inspect rice grains to ensure they meet preset size and other parameters, which is a time-consuming process.
TotalSense is claimed to address this issue by accelerating the quality process as well as introducing an objective and traceable data through the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud technology.
“TotalSense is said to be the result of Bühler’s digitalisation initiative featuring a number of new solutions that leverage the power of IoT.”
The mobile rice analyser also generates reports on the quality of rice within minutes and uploads a sample picture to a cloud-based solution, which not only saves the time of rice farmers but also offers an early warning to prevent contamination of entire batches.
Bühler Group CEO Stefan Scheiber said: “We are positioning ourselves at the forefront of this accelerated transformation. Digitalisation can bring consumers and producers closer together and increases performance, efficiency, and quality.”
TotalSense is said to be the result of Bühler’s digitalisation initiative featuring a number of new solutions that leverage the power of IoT with increased customer value.
In addition to rice analyser, Bühler introduced a food safety alert system, which helps mitigate food fraud or recalls risks by combining food safety databases and early warning systems under one coherent, cloud-based solution.
