Carbery has launched the latest innovation from its hydrolyzed whey protein range, Optipep 4bars. This new ingredient is designed specifically to deliver a soft texture throughout shelf-life while enhancing the nutritional profile.
Combined with the flavor expertise of sister company Synergy, Carbery can help customers create diverse and exciting protein bars with the new ingredient, which appeal to a broad range of active consumers. In addition, the Optipep range provides fast absorption, enhanced digestibility and a neutral taste that makes it compatible with a wide variety of flavors.
Sarah O’Neill, Marketing Manager at Carbery commented: “Carbery has developed a neutral tasting whey protein ingredient, which allows manufacturers to create a great tasting bar with excellent eating quality throughout shelf-life. Optipep 4bars is a high quality, whey protein - produced with milk from grass-fed cows. Optipep prevents moisture being drawn from the other ingredients in the bar; allowing manufacturers to maintain softness and improve texture throughout shelf-life.”
According to a recent report from Persistence Market Research, the high-protein bar sector is predicted to be worth more than US$ 630 million by the end of 2022, with a compound annual growth of 7.8 percent between now and then. This rapid growth is predominantly being driven by the demand from consumers for filling and nutritious convenience foods that can be consumed on-the-go.
Carbery is showcasing the new ingredient in Hall 8, stand Q65 at Food Ingredients Europe 2017. The raspberry high-protein bar being sampled contains almost 30 percent protein (sourced solely from milk proteins) and delivers on taste, texture and nutrition.
