The conditions on the garlic market in 2017 made traders more careful when fresh garlic entered the market in 2018. Traders primarily purchase based on pre-orders, but with careful attention to reserve stock. The price remains universally low. The majority of traders prefers to hold on to the money and wait to see what happens on the garlic market. The supply volume of fresh garlic gradually increases, while the supply of preserved garlic gradually comes to an end. It is under these circumstances that a small number of garlic processing factories look for suitable sources of garlic supply.
There is a predictable regularity to these seemingly wild fluctuations in garlic prices. One cycle generally lasts 3-5 years. Garlic farmers, however, are blind to this pattern. When the price is high, they expand garlic plantations, which in turn leads to increased production volume in the subsequent year; when the price is low, farmers decrease the surface area, which in turn leads to decreased production volume in the subsequent year.
