General Office of China Food and Drug Administration issued a reply letter about defining the implementation date issues of registration administration for imported formula food for special medical purpose and formula milk powder for infants and young children, the reply letter defines that the formula food for special medical purpose and formula milk powder for infants and young children produced by overseas enterprises without registration can be sold within our borders until the end of shelf life if this products were imported under the approval of related departments before January 1, 2018 (not including January 1, 2018).

In order to comprehensively implement the “Food Safety Law of the Peoples Republic of China”, further strengthen supervision on the food and health food production and management (import), and strengthen law-abiding and credit awareness of enterprises, severely crack down on illegal acts, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and consumption safety, the Food Safety Office under State Council in conjunction with the relevant departments developed the “Remediation plan of fraud and misleading propaganda of food and health food”.

 

China Food and Drug Administration issued a notice about further strengthening food safety supervision and administration of edible oil in catering service units

In order to further implement the “Opinions of General Office of the State Council about further strengthening the treating work of ‘Illegal cooking oil’” (No.30, 2017 of General Office of the State Council), and further urge the catering service units to implement the main responsibility, investigate the food safety risks of purchase, storage and use of food oil for catering service units, severely crack down on illegal acts of illegal use and recycle of waste oil, China Food and Drug Administration issued a notice about further strengthening food safety supervision and administration of edible oil in catering service units.

 

General Office of the State Council printed and distributed “National nutrition plan (2017-2030)”
 

In order to implement the “Layout plan of ‘Healthy China 2030’”, raise the level of health level of nationals, the General Office of the State Council printed and distributed “National nutrition plan (2017-2030)”, the plan proposed that by 2020, the standard system of nutrition regulations shall be basically improved; the nutrition working system shall be basically sound; the provincial, municipal and county nutrition system shall be gradually improved; the grassroots nutrition work shall be strengthened; food nutrition and health industries shall develop rapidly, traditional health preserving with food shall become increasingly abundant; the nutrition and health informationalized level shall be gradually improved; the nutritional defective conditions of emphatic crowds shall be improved significantly, healthy life style of balanced eating & exercise shall be further popularized, residents nutrition and health literacy shall be significantly improved. By 2030, the standard system of nutrition regulations shall be more sound, the nutrition working system shall be more perfect, the food nutrition and health industries shall continue to develop healthily, traditional health preserving with food shall become more abundant, the “Internet + nutrition and health” intelligent application shall be generally popular, residents nutrition and health literacy shall be further improved, nutrition and health status shall improve significantly.

 

Notice of National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China about soliciting approval suggestions on national food safety standard in 2017
 

In order to do well in the formulation and revision work of national food safety standards and improve the food safety standards system, the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China solicited approval suggestions on national food safety standard in 2017 according to the “Food Safety Law”, the notice clearly defined project approval conditions and scope, declaration requirements of project approval, submission procedures and time limit.
