Fast food giant McDonald’s has introduced a chicken burger variant which replaces meat with Valess, a dairy, seaweed and fiber substitute, across all Dutch restaurants. Following in the footsteps of McDonald’s Austria, Belgium and Croatia, the McChicken Veggie and the Homestyle Crispy Chicken Veggie are now on the menu at almost all Netherlands-based burger chains.
As the number of herbivores continues to increase around the world, even the biggest fast-food chains are accommodating new customers with alternative menu items.The chicken burgers are a veggie variant, the concept has already proved popular elsewher and comes at a time of growing demand for vegetarian options as the number of vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians increases.
Valess is chosen as the ideal product for the Veggie burgers of McDonald’s, due to its’ juicy bite and taste that the milk fiber adds to Valess.The launch of the Veggie burgers, McDonald’s is also responding to the growing number of Dutch people eating less meat.
The recipes of the McChicken and the Homestyle Crispy Chicken remain the same: the famous sandwich, the sauce and the toppings, but with Valess instead of chicken. And of course, there is no bacon.The meat replacer from Valess is made of dairy, seaweed and fiber. It is rich in protein, calcium and fiber as well as containing vitamins and minerals.
