On Thursday morning, a huge package of almost one million methamphetamine pills was found among crates of longan abandoned on a roadside in Ang Thongs Chaiyo district.

The drug shipment was spotted by farmers who were fertilising their rice fields, about 15 meters away from the Asia Highway. The drugs were found inside several small plastic bags, wrapped in large packs.

Farmer Anyaporn Chanthorn told police that she and her parents came to put fertiliser on their land and spotted several abandoned longan crates. When she checked them, she found what she believed were drugs and called the police.

According to an article on nationmultimedia.com, police believe drug mules used longan crates to disguise their shipments. This particular load might have been accidentally dropped because of the dark surroundings.
