US-based Mondelez International has reached a collaboration agreement with Israeli-based FoodTech-focused incubator The Kitchen to boost opportunities in the snacking segment.
Led by Mondelez’s research and development team, as well as its SnackFutures team, the collaboration aims to unlock the growth opportunities in the snacking segment across the globe.
Mondelēz International executive vice-president and chief growth officer Tim Cofer said: “With over 6,600 active start-up companies and a steady growth year on year, the Israeli innovation ecosystem is one of the most dynamic in the world and we’re thrilled to be part of it.
“We know we don’t have all the answers within our four walls, so we’re on a mission to create an unconventional ecosystem of partners. The collaboration with The Kitchen is another great example of this ecosystem at play.”
By collaborating with The Kitchen, Mondelēz will gain access and visibility to a FoodTech ecosystem.
The Kitchen entrepreneurs will receive technological and commercial expertise, as well as an opportunity to work at Mondelēz’s global Technical Centers.
Additionally, they will have access to pilot plants and internal experts across various areas such as research and development, food safety, marketing insights and operations.
The divested company invests in new technology startups and addresses global food challenges.
The Kitchen CEO Jonathan Berger said: “Partnering with an industry leader such as Mondelēz International will bring tremendous value to The Kitchen and our portfolio companies. We look forward to working with their dedicated team and to introducing Israeli FoodTech innovation from seed to shelf around the globe.”
