According to the Bahrain Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, smooth trade processes ensure that a constant supply of vegetable and fruits arrive in the Kingdoms market. The Ministry examined close to 8000 agricultural consignments at the Kingdoms shipping ports in the first four months of this year. Of the 7960 agricultural consignments, 6790 were for fruits and vegetables.

All of the consignments were inspected and were considered safe. The concerned department at the Ministry issued 1354 licenses including 415 for importing vegetables and fruits and 939 for importing plants. 35,000 agricultural consignments were received at Bahrains ports last year, which included 330,000 tons of vegetables and fruits.

"The department has thoroughly inspected agricultural products entering the Kingdom via King Fahad Causeway, Bahrain International airport and more," a Ministry representative told The News of Bahrain. "Every step is taken to ensure that the agricultural products are safe and hygienic at the same time speed up procedures so businesses do not lose time."
