Having experienced a 58% rise in first half profits after introducing a vegan sausage roll, it was inevitable Greggs was going to bolster its meat-free offering.
The Quorn filled vegan sausage roll was launched back in January following a customer campaign.
The high street bakery chain is now working on plans to create vegan versions of all its best-selling products, according to Chief Excitative Roger Whiteside.
“We are plugging away at seeing if we can come up with a vegan version of all our top-selling lines. Obviously people want a vegan option,” said Whiteside speaking to LBC.
“If we can succeed in doing that and produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully. That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.”
This week marks the bakery opening its 2,000th store in the UK.
