Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate Nestlé renamed its Garden Gourmet plant-based burger from ‘Incredible Burger’ to ‘Sensational Burger’.

The move was made by the company after losing a legal battle with Impossible Foods over the rights to the name.

Nestlé added that it has made further improvements to its Garden Gourmet plant-based burger to offer a meatier taste and texture.

Nestlé’s food business head Wayne England said: “As consumers around the world seek healthier, more sustainable diets, we have created some of the tastiest and healthiest plant-based foods available.

“The new Garden Gourmet ‘Sensational’ name evokes the senses that are stimulated by our burger: the visible transformation and aroma when cooking, the sound of it sizzling in the pan or on the grill, the great taste and texture.”

Nestlé claims that its burger patty has been produced using natural soy, wheat protein, rapeseed, coconut oil and colour from natural plant extracts.

It added that its proprietary method of fermenting plant-based ingredients enhances the ‘umami’ flavour of the burger.
