Traditional Medicinals, a leading processor of herbal teas, will build a $29.7 million new processing plant in Franklin County, Va.
The 125,000-square-foot plant will handle production and processing of about 50 products for the eastern U.S., supplementing the company’s existing plant near its headquarters in Sevastopol, Calif. The new plant will be the third tenant in a business park and will be built on a 30-acre site.
Traditional Medicinals received grants totaling $595,000, plus a loan of $245,000, from state agencies for the project.
“It was incredibly important that we found a location that embodied our company values,” Blair Kellison, CEO of Traditional Medicinals, said in a statement. “We’ve worked for decades to ensure that the work we do positively impacts both the environment and the people in the communities wher we do business—both on a local level and in the 42 countries wher we purchase herbs.”
