US-based frozen food brand B&G Foods has acquired frozen food products manufacturer Farmwise to expand its plant-based product portfolio.
based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, US, Farmwise produces Veggie Fries, Veggie Tots and Veggie Rings. Their ingredients include cauliflower, navy beans and onions.
Its foods are suitable for vegans and Non-genetically modified organism (GMO) Project verified. The company claims its products are free of the top eight allergens. These include gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, tree nuts and peanuts.
Its products are available in supermarkets across the US.
B&G Foods chief commercial officer Jordan Greenberg said: “We are excited to increase our great tasting, plant-based product offerings with the acquisition of Farmwise.
“Dave and Cristina Peters, the founders of Farmwise, have done a tremendous job developing delicious, plant-based products, including Veggie Fries, Veggie Tots and Veggie Rings, that both parents and children love.
“We look forward to further supporting the Farmwise brand in the natural channel while also introducing items that Farmwise has developed into new, innovative product offerings for our Green Giant brand.”
Neither company has divulged any financial details.
based in New Jersey, US, B&G Foods produces a wide range of shelf-stable and frozen food brands. It distributes its products across the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Its brand portfolio includes Back to Nature, B&G, B&M, Cream of Wheat, Green Giant, Las Palmas, Le Sueur and Mama Mary’s.
In October 2018, The Hershey Company purchased Pirate Brands from B&G Foods for $420m. Hershey acquired various Pirate brands, including Pirate’s Booty, Smart Puffs and Original Tings.
