Quirch Foods has opened a new distribution centre in Greensboro, North Carolina, to further expand its presence in the US.
This represents the company’s sixth distribution hub in the country. It expects the facility to begun operations this month.
The company has five other distribution centres located across the south-east of the US and the Caribbean. Together, they have 700,000ft² of refrigerated warehouse space and a fleet of more than 120 refrigerated trucks.
Quirch Foods president Frank Grande said: “We continue to look for opportunities to expand our reach and find strategic locations which will facilitate a well-executed distribution. The facility in Greensboro does just that.
“Alongside the continued growth of the independent grocer and the food industry in general, we feel that this distribution centre will be a great complement to our complete distribution network.”
With this facility, the company aims to expand its capacity to serve independent and national supermarkets in and around the Carolinas and states further north.
Established in 1967 by the Quirch Family, Quirch Foods distributes a wide range of food products to both large and independent retailers across the US, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Its distribution portfolio includes Panamei Seafood and Kikiri Quirch.
In April 2018, Quirch Foods announced that it will be distributing Certified Angus Beef branded products from its Chicago distribution centre.
Quirch said that the new Certified Angus Beef would complement its existing brands, which include Chiquita Frozen and Mambo brands.
