US-based Hain Celestial has sold its food brands Casbah and Europe’s Best to US Durum and Nature’s Touch respectively.
Neither of the parties involved have divulged any financial details.
Casbah manufactures vegetarian prepared mixes and side dishes.
Europe’s Best offers frozen fruits and vegetables that are reportedly all-natural with no preservatives. Its goods are ready-to-eat or ready-to-cook.
Hain Celestial president and CEO Mark L Schiller said: “These two Canadian strategic brand divestitures represent another important step in the execution of our transformational strategic plan by further simplifying the portfolio and organisation and improving our margins and cash flow.
“The transactions allow us to focus more resources against fewer, bigger opportunities, which will drive our long term financial performance.”
based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, US Durum manufactures couscous products.
The company says that all its goods include couscous, as well as grains and flours, and are organic, kosher and GMO-free.
Nature’s Touch produces frozen fruits, such as blueberries, cherries, mangos, raspberries, strawberries and lemon slices.
The divestiture of Casbah and Europe’s Best brands forms part of Hain Celestial’s transformational strategic plan.
In August, Hain Celestial completed the sale of its premium basmati and speciality rice brand Tilda to Ebro Foods for $342m in an all-cash transaction.
The company said that it will use part of the proceeds from the sale to reduce its debts. It will also consider distribution alternatives for the remaining amount to maximise shareholder profits.
