Global branded company Hormel Foods is thanking its plant production team members who are working around the clock to ensure food supply during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
More than $4m in special cash bonuses has been announced by the company for all its full-time and part-time team members.
Out of the total, each full-time team member will receive $300 and part-time team members will each be awarded $150.
Hormel Foods board chairman, president and CEO Jim Snee said: “As a global branded food company, we play a critical role in providing safe, high-quality food during this unprecedented time.
“Our incredible team of more than 13,000 plant professionals is the backbone of our company and this special bonus is one way we can continue to thank them for how they have risen to the challenge and continue to produce food with a sense of purpose and pride.”
Hormel has also announced that its CARE Program employee assistance programme fund has been expanded.
In addition, paid sick leave for its workforce has been extended while waiting periods and eligibility requirements for some benefits have been waived.
The US-based company has also committed more than $1m in cash and product donations to non-profit organisations.
It noted that the financial and product donations will cover global, national and local hunger-relief organisations.
Earlier this week, Kraft Heinz announced a $12m international commitment to support communities impacted by the pandemic.
