Flowers Foods is closing its plant in bakery located in Tucker, Ga., for at least a week and a half, following an increase in COVID-19 cases among its workers.
The company said in a statement that it is closing the plant until April 27 “out of an abundance of caution.” The statement said the closing was due to “an increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at the bakery,” although it did not specify how many cases there were.
Flowers’ brands include Wonder, Tastykake, Dave’s Killer Bread and Nature’s Own. The Tucker plant primarily produces frozen, non-retail specialty and foodservice bread and buns.
The bakery is located in DeKalb County, which currently has the third-most confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
